Picture Postcards from Africa

My Art-Cards or ‘Picture Postcards’ have developed over time and are a combination of my love of Africa; my love of being ‘connected’ through letter-writing and of gift-giving.

Made on hardboard, the artwork is highly textured and although has the appearance of ceramic, is finished with a resin, making them robust and easy to transport or post. The stamps are small prints from some of my previous artworks.

I’ve left space for a message to be written, if the card’s to be a gift; and I sometimes write my own message to those who buy these cards directly from my studio when requested.

Framing is easy: simply secure the art-card by attaching it directly onto the glass within a frame using adhesive tape or glue.

The images below are of some of these cards, As these works are highly textured, with multiple layers, they’re tricky to photograph. I’ve done my best to represent them as accurately as possible. A common response when viewed ‘in the real’ is how much better they are in “real life than online”.
