I live in Durban, South Africa with my husband Patrick, daughter Andrea, son James and a beautiful Bullmastiff dog called Sienna. With a background in HR, and no formal art training, I began painting in 2000, and at about the same time started accepting commissions. I first exhibited in August 2002 and continued primarily in three member exhibitions before exhibiting in London and Berlin in 2008 and 2009.
My work continuously shifts between the traditional medium of oil on canvas, to mixed media and increasingly moves toward including contemporary installation.
My interest and intention is always conceptual. Others describe my style as ‘Turner-esque’ in reference to the work of the famous English artist William Turner who was commonly known as the ‘painter of light’.
My work is sweeping, expressive and always has an element of wind or spirit in it.
